Source: EU may coordinate 11th round of sanctions next week
BRUSSELS, Jun 14 (PRIME) -- The Wednesday meeting of the E.U. permanent representatives for discussion of the 11th round of anti-Russian sanctions was fruitful, and the representatives may coordinate the package at the beginning of next week, a European source told PRIME.
“A short and constructive discussion took place today at a meeting of the permanent representatives. The discussion will go on, it should end next week. It is unclear when exactly it will happen, but it will likely happen at the beginning of the week,” the source said.
After coordination by the representatives, the package will be submitted to the European ministers for a formal approval, after which it will be published in the E.U. Journal and come into force.
In April, the European Commission said that the 11th round of sanctions would focus on elimination of opportunities to bypass the restrictions.
